Located in Plaça Urquinaona in the heart of Barcelona City Centre, Teatre Borràs originally opened as a cinema, Cine Urqinaona, in 1931 and took the name Cine Borràs in 1943, in honour of the actor Enric Borràs.
In the 1950s, it was acquired by the production company Grup Balañà, who continued to use the building as a cinema until 1990, when they began to put on occasional theatre productions.
Since 1995, the space has been exclusively dedicated to theatre and has a capacity for 740 spectators.
The Borràs has put on some famous comedies, including La Extraña Pareja, the Spanish version of Neil Simon's The Odd Couple, and continues offering a varied programme of straight theatre, musicals and comedy to this day.
