1358 – València: a swelling of the River Túria floods l’Horta and causes more than 400 víctims.

1694 – Valls (l’Alt Camp): The Avalot dels Pobres, calls on the clergy and nobles, who until then were exempt, to contribute to the cost of the military.

1934 – Tortosa: Ricard Salvat i Ferré, Catalan writer and theatre director.

1947 – Barcelona: Pedro Ruiz, Catalan performer, writer and TV presenter.

1978 – L’Hospitalet de Llobregat: Enrique de Lucas Martínez, known as Quique de Lucas, Catalan footballer, who played for RCD Espanyol and other clubs in Spain and Europe.

Deaths

906 – Girona (Gironès): Servus Dei, Catalan priest, Bishop of Girona.

1909 – Barcelona (Barcelonès): Josep Miquel i Baró, Catalan politician and revolutionary.

1936 – Sabadell: Josep Germà i Homet, liquor factory owner, sponsor of culture and sport and mayor of Sabadell.

1956 – Barcelona: Paulí Castells i Vidal, Catalan industrial engineer and politician.

1958 – Tulacingo, Hidalgo, Mèxic: Miquel Bertran i Oleart, the last republican mayor of Sabadell.

2006 – Barcelona (Barcelonès): Agustí de Semir, Catalan lawyer and politician.
