From Plaça Urquinaona down to The Port
The Barcelona Via Laietana Hotels available all offer a great location close to the Barri Gotic and range from luxurious 5 star hotels to mid-range 4 and 2 star and very basic hostels.
Running from Plaça Urquinaona past Barcelona Cathedral down to the Port, Via Laietana cut through the Gothic Quarter when it was built at the start of the 20th century.
There are famous sights on the Barri Gòtic side of the street and hidden treasures in Sant Pere, Santa Caterina and La Ribera, better known these days as El Born.
Of the accommodation on offer, there are two very upmarket Barcelona Via Laietana Hotels – Ohla Hotel and Grand Hotel Central.
I’d describe Confortel Almirante, Exe Laietana Palace and Barcelona Hotel Colonial as very good mid-range hotels whilst Hostal Fontanella, Pensión Casa Blanca and particularly G and G are more basic but in an excellent location nonetheless.
As with all my Ciutat Vella accommodation pages, the listings begin close to Plaça Catalunya or rather Plaça Urquinaona in this case and work down to the Port.
