Pride Barcelona reaches its climax on the weekend of July 9-10th and is one of the main annual LGBT festivals in the Catalan capital and a massive event for the local gay community.

From Tuessday June 28th onwards, shops and associations located all around the city but concentrated mainly in the gay neighbourhood of the Gaixample in the Antiga Esquerra de l’Eixample begin offering activities and discounts with the weekend of July 2nd-3rd acting as a warm-up to the main events a week later.

As the poster indicates the central theme of this year’s Pride Festival is the treatment of the youngest members of the LGBT community under the slogan ‘Trans People! Just as common as they are diverse ‘ so there are plenty of talks and acts of solidarity planned.

However, Barcelona is a party city and you should check out the full programme of events on the Pride Barcelona website.

The main festivities begin at 11 am on Friday July 8th when the Pride Barcelona Village opens on Avinguda Reina Maria Cristine, which is the avenue that leads from Plaça d’Espanya to the Magic Fountains at the foot of Montjuïc.

The highlight of the first day is the Foam Party, which starts at 11 pm a goes on to 2 am and is sure to be lots of fun.

Things also kick off on Saturday at 11 in the morning and the day culminates with the Pride Parade, which starts with a party at the Parc de les Tres Tres Xemeneies and makes its way along Avinguda Paral.lel to Avinguda Reina Maria Cristina at 6 pm, where the Stop Bullying Manifesto will be read at 8 pm.

After that the party goes on until 2 pm and then on Sunday the scene of events moves to the Funfair at Tibidabo for the Tibidabo Pride Day, which is a more family-oriented day.
