1713 – Barcelona: Antoni Berenguer,  military leader of the Generalitat, manages to break the naval blockade of the city imposed by the armies of Felipe V of Castile during The Siege of Barcelona.

1835 – Ripoll: Sacking and destruction of the monastery and all the historical, political and cultural patrimony it contained, including the tombs of the first Catalan counts.

1936 – Road from Tortosa to Barcelona: The Amposta politicians Joan Palau i Miralles and his son Joan Palau i Mayor are murdered.

1992 – 
Barcelona: The Olympic Games of the XXV Olimpiad close.


1932 – Zaragoza: Alfons Comín, Catalan industrial engineer, polítician and publicist (died 1980).


1862 – Barcelona: Lutgarda Mas i Mateu, nun, founder of the Religioses Mercedàries Missioneres.

2010 – València (L’Horta): José María López Piñero, science historian specialising in the History of Medicine (born 1933).

Festivals and Commemorations
